Just bought and set up the monitor and noticed it was running extremely hot on top and it shut down after being on for 2 hours. The ambient room temperature was 80 degrees, hardly sweltering hot. When reading on the Dell community site, there were numerous other complaints of same problem. The center vent holes are placed lower on the back then the top, so the heat is probably trapped inside the top 2" section, creating the problem. I turned the brightness down from 75 to 60% and put a small table-top fan next to it, focusing the air into the side vents which then flow out through the top.
